The Department of Musicology at the Austrian Centre for Digital Humanities and Cultural Heritage (ACDH-CH)
of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW), Austria’s leading non-university research and science institution,

PHD STUDENT POSITION (F/M/X)
(part-time/30h per week)
The position is part of the FWF stand-alone project Discourses on music at the margins of the Habsburg Monarchy
(c. 1750–1914) and includes all activities related to archive research of primary sources aimed at the publication of
a co-authored monograph.
Your tasks:
- Conducting research using primary sources related to Hungarian musical life and discourses on music in
written media in the Habsburg Military Frontier area (Slavonia and the Banat)
- Presentation of the individual research results at symposia, providing a chapter in the planned monograph
Your profile:
- Master’s degree in musicology or cultural history
- Familiarity with primary materials in Hungarian and interdisciplinary approach to research
- Readiness for teamwork
- Excellent knowledge of Hungarian language and familiarity with Hungarian culture and history
- Proficiency in English and/or German

The annual gross salary is € 34.606,85, according to the collective agreement of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
The employment will run for 18 months.
