The Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW) is Austria’s central non-university research and science

institution. Three of the OeAW institutes are conducting research in the field of life sciences.

In collaboration with the University of Graz, Medical University Graz and the Graz University of

Technology the OeAW is founding a new Institute of Molecular and Computational Metabolism in

Graz. The Cori Institute will affiliate equally experimental and theoretical groups. By combining

experimental excellence and new methods from formal sciences, Cori will develop new approaches for

the future of metabolic research. We are now seeking an outstanding scientist and visionary leader to

serve as the

METABOLISM

The successful candidate offers excellent leadership qualities, is highly recognized and connected within

the global scientific community. He/She brings the ambition to establish the Cori Institute as a world

leading research center for computational metabolism research.

The Founding Executive Director will shape the scientific vision and strategic direction of the Cori

Institute, establish a unique and globally competitive research program and play a major role in

recruiting faculty and staff, envisioning an institute of 8-12 junior research groups in the ultimate

expansion state. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in conceptualization

of the new research building in close proximity to Graz University, which will become the home of the

Cori Institute. The Director’s position includes an internationally competitive salary, a substantial

annual research budget (personnel, consumables, investments) as well as access to the research

infrastructure of the University of Graz, Medical University Graz and the Graz University of

platforms and infrastructures that will be established, various scientific facilities of the cooperating

Universities will provide a wide range of cutting-edge technologies, instrumentation, and techniques.
